From Fortresses to Secret Hideouts
A Little History of the LEGO Castle Series from 86-89: Details and Curiosities on the Most Iconic Sets
The LEGO Castle series, launched between 1986 and 1989, ushered in an epic era in the world of construction. This period saw the introduction of iconic sets such as the King’s Castle (set 6080), which was one of the first large LEGO castles and introduced the iconic drawbridge and colorful flags, or the Black Falcon’s Fortress (set 6074), a bastion defended by the brave Falcon knights, a fan-favorite faction known for their black falcon shields.
In 1988, LEGO released the Guarded Inn (6067), a guarded inn that added a touch of medieval daily life with its architectural details and characters. The following year, in 1989, the Forestmen’s River Fortress (6077) was introduced, a fortress hidden deep in the forest, complete with a secret and adventurous hideout among the trees and a river.
Over the years, LEGO has brought to life a medieval universe of knights, towers and epic adventures, inspiring generations of builders with the charm and magic of the medieval world.
